The passing of Mary Foley

It is with a deep personal sadness that the Diary records the death of Mary Schwer-Foley of Brannockstown.

A longtime friend, and a colleague in the world of motoring journalism, Mary passed away early this morning in St Brigid's Hospice, The Curragh. She had fought bravely against an illness which, on a previous occasion, she had defeated with the indomitable spirit that was just one of her many wonderful characteristics.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Brian, their daughter Sinead, grandson Ronan, brothers Maurice, Steve, Lar, and Pat, the extended families and a circle of friends that extends far beyond her home place.

Mary is reposing at Murphy Brother's Funeral Home, Naas. Her removal will take place from there tomorrow (Monday) evening at 5.15, travelling via Brannockstown to arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Brigid, Kilcullen at 6pm.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11am and her funeral will take place afterwards to St Brigid's Cemetery, Kilcullen.

May she rest in peace, and may those she leaves behind be comforted in the fact that her pain and suffering is at an end.

Slán, mo chara maith.
