Great Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day was a great success, writes Nuala Collins. Again Kilcullen people gave generously.

The collectors were many, and people of all ages came to help. We had some who have been collecting since the first time 25 years ago. We can count five men amongst our group, and one family can claim four sisters who did an hour each. Even some children came to help after school.

As usual the traders supported the cause in many ways. Collection boxes were put on counters, chairs were lent to those who prefer to sit, refreshments were available if needed. As with all Banks at the present time our 'Bank' saw changes too. The owners of the 'Daffodil Day Bank' of the last few years have retired. No problem though—we moved across the street and opened a branch in the local Chemist shop!! To the staff there we are very grateful.

Anne reports a successful day at the North end of Kilcullen and Marion's coffee morning and collection at the Town Hall was well supported too. The total amount collected in Kilcullen to date is €5,100.

This message came from The Irish Cancer Society on the day. "Thanks for all your tremendous work. We greatly appreciate you joining us in the fight against cancer." This 'Thank you' is for all of us in Kilcullen.
