Plans for school extension

Preliminary plans are being drawn up for a new school extension at St Joseph's NS, Halverstown, following the awarding of a grant in July to build two new classrooms, writes Brian Byrne.

The school gains a third teacher this month, and the extra space will be needed from September 2012.

Fourteen new Junior Infants started school in Halverstown on September 1, and more children have joined other classes up the school, bringing this year's complement to 51.

For the first time ever, there is a single class of Junior Infants instead of the usual multiclass situation.
