Movement on Whitehall Cross signs

The National Roads Design Office in Naas has acknowledged that the signage at Whitehall Cross is ’inadequate’, writes Brian Byrne.

The signs pointing to the townland of Martinstown have been the subject of much recent concern by local residents who say that the Whitehall Cross area could ’lose its identity’.

Following representations by Cllr Ivan Keatley (FG), the NRDO says it will look at addressing the situation 'when the current round of signage is completed’.

In an email to representatives of the residents of the area, Cllr Keatley says he is awaiting comfirmation of this from the NRDO office in Kildare County Council, and will follow it up as ’a matter of priority’.

The councillor has also made a submission on the provision of signage to Old Kilcullen as part of a report in preparation for Failte Ireland on the highlighting of heritage sites in Co Kildare.

This submission also includes proposals for the Moone High Cross and Castledermot Abbey.
