New funding campaign for childcare facility

Kilcullen Community Playgroup will launch a website and funding campaign this weekend, for a project to bring an integrated childcare and family resource facility to the town.

Funds of €40,000 need to be raised locally, which will be worth €800,000 when matched with capital funding from other sources.

The launch, at 11am on Saturday 14 May, will take place on the site for the proposed new building, beside the existing playgroup prefab on the Kilcullen Community Centre campus.

The campaign is being organised by a Working Group set up after the loss of funding for the project at the end of last year, attributed to legal delays in the transfer of deeds.

The group plan that the centre will offer high quality and accessible childcare from crèche through playschool to afterschool services for primary children at community rates. There will be an array of services and facilities in the centre for families and groups within the community.
