Broad support made playground possible

Cash donations from individuals and companies made up the bulk of the €16,318 raised locally for the Community Playground Project, construction of which is expected to begin shortly.

Such donations came to €9,918, according to the accounts of the fundraising campaign released recently by the organising committee.

Collection tins placed in strategic locations around town added another €2,253 to the fund, while the balance of €4,477 was raised by events that included a Table Quiz, bag packing, and a Childrens Disco.

Expenditure incurred on the project to date amounted to €330.

The Kildare Leader Partnership has approved a grant of €55,000 towards the project. Kildare County Council will be providing the balance for the €200,000 project in funds and work.
