WEATHER

Cold but largely dry this morning with isolated wintry showers, frost and icy patches. Sunny spells in the morning will give way in the afternoon as a band of showery rain moves in from the west with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Light southerly winds will increase moderate to fresh and gusty for a time in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

DID YOU KNOW?

The oldest known face-depiction masks are an estimated 9,000 years old with one of the best-preserved found in the Palestine West Bank in 2018. The mask is made from limestone and it's thought was used in ornamentation for ceremonies. Other early masks have been found in South Korea and the Old Kingdom of Egypt, made from shells and papyrus-plaster respectively.
