Fallons gets HR quality award
Fallons Bar and Cafe recently achieved the FÁS Excellence Through People award for human resource management.
The process, which took almost a year to complete, began with an assessment of the existing training and development of staff, and from that a more detailed and formal structure was put in place. This was carried out by a mentor provided by FÁS
Following this part of the programme, the business was able to set up new training plans and operating procedures which benefit all involved in the business, including the customers.
Among these were some wine training sessions, to have the front of house staff more comfortable about recommending wines to customers.
The process also provided the channel for staff ideas on how the business might be improved, which operations manager Mary O'Neill says hadn't really been there before. "They had quite a lot of good ideas, and we've already put some of them in place."
The business is only the second restaurant in the country to achieve the award.
