Square restaurant almost ready
The new restaurant that will anchor the retail activity in the Market Square development is scheduled for official opening on Friday week.
However, the facility may well be open unofficially from this coming weekend to give proprietors Paul and Freda Mullen a chance to 'run in' the operation and deal with any startup snags.
The restaurant will have three areas -- a cafe at front, full dining room behind, and a semi glassed-in section overlooking the river which will facilitate smokers.
The Diary understands that the facility will be open from 10am to 10pm, offering a uniquely attractive location to meet for coffee and snacks as well as a stylish place to have a full meal.
Paul and Freda are said to be 'excited' about the project, which in a way brings them back 'home'. For many years they operated 'Berneys Bar & Restaurant', a very well considered eating place just across the square in the premises now known as Fallons.
