Speakers for Bothar walk

A number of local people will give talks at various points in today's Bothar charity walk with Donncha O Duailing, to highlight parts of Kilcullen's history.

They include Nessa Dunlea of Kilcullen Heritage Centre who will speak at the Portlester Monument in New Abbey Graveyard, Jim Collins who will outline the history of the development of The Valley Park where the walk will end at St Brigid's Well, and Pauline Fagan will discuss Brigid and her place in local and the more general mythology of Kildare.

There's been strong interest in supporting the charity, which provides farm animals to families in developing countries in a programme to make them self-sustaining units.

Come along and enjoy a bit of easy exercise and chat, and don't forget the 'Poets in Paradise' show afterwards in the Town Hall Theatre.
