Good response to marathon call

The response to the call for entrants to the Flora Womens Mini Marathon, for the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund, has been 'great', according to one of the key organisers.

"We have about fifty people entered on our behalf already," Phena Bermingham told the Diary. "But there's still time for more, and we'd welcome them."

The cutoff date for entry is 24th of April, and people can enter either by using the forms in the Evening Herald on Tuesdays and Saturdays, or by going online.

"People can register directly themselves, but anyone wanting to take part on our behalf needs to contact us to get sponsorship cards," Phena says.

The event itself is being held on June 4. In the meantime, the PKRF plans to have an Information Night in May to explain to people just what the Fund is doing.

Local kidney transplant recipient James Nolan will be there, along with the first person to have used the holiday home in Kerry which the organisation has bought, for use by kidney dialysis patients.

Further information on sponsorship for the Mini Marathon is available from Phena at 087 9767531.
