Gun gang raid Hideout
Landlord at The Hideout pub Martin Myles and his wife Denise are recovering from a terrifying ordeal over the weekend during which they were twice burgled, once at gunpoint.
On Friday night Denise came up the stairs to the residential part of the premises and disturbed a number of people who had been searching the premises.
They escaped, but in the early hours of Monday morning three men with masks and a gun burst into the residential area through an exterior door opening onto a flat roof garden.
They threatened the pair and escaped with what is understood to be a substantial amount of money. They exited the front door of the building and then ran through the adjoining car park and are thought to have jumped over the rear wall. They had taken the keys of Martin's car, but it wasn't in the car park at the time.
This incident happened at around 4.30am and gardai are appealing for anybody who might have been up and about in the town around that time to contact them. It is believed the raiders were identifiably Dubliners by their accents.
Local people are shocked at the raids on The Hideout, where Martin Myles recently celebrated his first year as publican in the famous hostelry. Both he and Denise are very popular in the community.
