Hideout festival kicks off

Martin Myles's Festival Weekend at The Hideout kicked off last night with a good buzz, though there was a hiccup when the Casino Enterprises novelty casino failed to turn up.

"Their truck broke down on the road," he had to tell the assembled customers, and then saved the day by setting up his own blackjack table, where a draw of a card (every customer got a few) gave players at the very least a free spot prize, and the chance of a big free draw entry.

"The important thing was to get the prizes out," he told the Diary.

Meanwhile, music was provided by Rendition, with some excellent performances on a range of guitars, including a resonator, steel, electric and acoustic instruments.
