Tedcastles petrol in town
If you've noticed the new green livery on the forecourt at Dunlea's Garage, it's because proprietor Anthony Murray has leased the forecourt to Tedcastles.
The petrol brand is TOP, and it is a continuation of a trend in recent years for smaller operators to get out of the provision of petrol directly and lease the operations to distributors.
"I can't buy petrol at the price it sells in large operations," Anthony Murray told the Diary. "People were going to Newbridge to buy cheap petrol, so it made better sense for us to lease it out."
He says he expects that Tedcastles will bring their price down, as is the company's pattern. "And the new livery freshens up things."
Meantime the car-wash business remains under the garage's control, and Anthony promises some new initiatives in that department soon.
Since taking over the car sales business from the Dunlea family in November last, Anthony says the response from the customer base has been really good.
Sales of the Nissan Note and the Navara pickup are excellent, and the LCV range is also doing very well. And Anthony is looking forward to the impact of two new models by next April which will boost the performance of Nissan in the small family car and larger car segments.
