Senior Championship quarter final

After last weekend's victory over Athy and qualification from the group stages, Kilcullen are now involved in the business end of the championship.

It is the first time in a number of years that Kilcullen have gone this far in the championship. They now face 2004 County Champions Allenwood in the quarter final.

Allenwood are a strong side featuring one of the best players in the country in Johnny Doyle as well as a number of other county players of recent seasons. However, The Rags drew with them in the group stages of last years championship, and having beaten Athy and 2005 County Champions Sarsfields to get this far will be confident of causing another upset.

The match takes place this Saturday at 5pm at St Conleth's County Grounds in Newbridge. There was a fairly big contingent of Rags fans at the Athy match last weekend, and lets hope that there is at least as many there again to roar on the lads as they endeavour to get the club in what would be an unprecedented (in recent decades) county semi-final.

The game is followed at 6.30 when current title favourites Moorefield face Carbury. The remaining two quarter finals then take place in Newbridge on Sunday.
