Don't waste water

Kildare County Council is considering placing restrictions on the public supply during periods of continuous dry weather in order to maintain a reasonable supply for all consumers.

Any such measures will be introduced on a phased basis across the county.

The Council supplies some 74 million litres of potable water daily within the county.

It has asked people to be sensible and conservative in their use of the public water supply and use water sparingly in accordance with Tap Tips advice.

All consumers -- domestic, commercial and industrial -- are advised to have the mandatory 24-hour storage capacity on site which may act as a backup in times of water supply interruptions.
