A memory of 'Daddy Mick'

In response to our recent publication of a photograph of the Narraghmore Pipe Band marching in Kilcullen, Rose McMahon of Yellow Bog wrote to tell us that the band leader in the picture is her father, Mick O'Connor of Castlefish.

Mick worked for Kildare County Council and died in 1984.

"This photo is a lovely reminder of him and his interest in music, and of his love for the Pipe Band in particular," says Rose, a regular reader of the Diary,who adds that she got 'a bit of a shock' when she saw the picture. "It's great to know that these old photographs are still around."
