Defibrillator programme update

The first response system using heart defibrillators provided by Kilcullen Lions began a three-week 'dummy roster' programme Monday, and the system goes 'active' on June 19.

"The roster and trial run is to test the system and I think reassure all members that we can live with and cope with the requirement to be absolutely available when 'on duty'," Des Travers told the Diary.

The training meeting scheduled for the night of 19 June will include a short and informal reception to launch the service.

Meantime, here's an interesting piece which explains why defibrillation is needed, and new thinking on the treatment.
