Anglers' AGM report
The Kilcullen Trout and Salmon Anglers Club held their AGM on Sunday 29th January, 2006.
The well-attended meeting heard reports on activities during the previous year, including the appointment of extra River Bailiffs. One of the main issues discussed was the problem of unlicensed and out of season fishing. It was decided that this issue would be given serious attention, and that the River Bailiffs would patrol regularly, to address this problem. In addition, the committee have decided to erect new multi-lingual notices, at all main access points to the river.
The overall consensus was that the club is a very valuable asset to the area, and that members were generally very responsible with regard to club rules, the view was also expressed that the value of the fishing club in Kilcullen was not always recognised. The point was made that the committee has done a lot of work over the years to maintain an active club.
Gratitude was expressed by all present to the landowners that allow access to their lands. It was acknowledged that the generosity and tolerance of these people over many years has been vital to the success of the club.
As in previous years the club will be re-stocking the river during the season. This year the re-stocking will take place in phases to avoid the problem of large numbers of people on the river immediately following a re-stock.
Licence fees for the 2006 season (1st March – 30th September) will remain the same as last year; licences are available at the Esso Station Shop, and the Gala Shop (Jackman’s) Hillside. The committee would like to thank Josephine Byrne and Nicholas Jackman for their generous support.
Parents of juveniles are requested to ensure that their children have a valid licence, and understand the club rules, before going fishing.
