Resistance to Jazz

Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to the swinging elegance and dynamic precision of French jazz ensemble Trio Résistances, when they make their Irish début this October, as part of Music Network's 2005 Autumn Season.

Led by drummer Bruno Tocanne and featuring Lionel Martin on saxophones and Benoît Keller on bass, Trio Résistances can be heard at the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge on Saturday 15 October at 8pm, performing works from their highly acclaimed second CD Global Songs.

Tickets at €15 (€12 conc) from (045) 448 333.

For over 20 years, drummer Bruno Tocanne has been a conduit for French jazz while gracing the bandstand with international stars such as Paul Rogers, Jean Vanasse, Steve Potts, and Steve Lacy.

Fellow agitators Lionel Martin and Benoît Keller have played in numerous festivals both at home and abroad, including performances with Irakere, Serge Lazarevitch, and Betrand Renaudin.

All three are members of Imuzzic, a collective uniting some of the most creative musicians on the French jazz scene.

Music Network tours are funded by the Arts Council and presented in association with The Irish Times and with RTÉ Lyric FM.
