Lions Golf Classic has extra prize

The upcoming Kilcullen Lions Golf Classic to buy a mobile defibrillator for the town has just received another boost -- a brand-new Nissan Micra sponsored by Dunlea's Nissan for a hole-in-one.

Incoming Lions Club President Paul Carey said the hole in one competition, on the Par 3 16th, will add an extra element of fun to what is expected to be a fantastic day’s golf. "And the great thing is you don’t have to have a low handicap to be in with a chance of winning."

The Golf Classic will be held on September 16 at Baltinglass Golf Club. Teams of four are invited to enjoy 18 holes on the excellent course, dinner and entertainment for €300 per team. Tee Box sponsorships are also available at €100 each.

Kilcullen Lions Club was set up as an independent entity in 1996, following a number of years when Kilcullen Lions were associated with the Naas club.

The Kilcullen club has raised several hundred thousand euro to look after needs in the community especially underprivileged and elderly. Recent projects involved assistance of Kare’s redevelopment of the old Cross and Passion Convent, sheltered housing and educational projects.
