Action on the Valley?

Both Kildare County Council and An Garda may well mount an operation to deal with the illegal drinking and associated vandalism taking place in The Valley.

This follows the highlighting of the behaviour in the town's riverside park by A Kilcullen Diary and the Bridge magazine over recent months.

A spokesman for Kildare County Council told the Diary this week that the alcohol bye-laws 'are a matter for the gardaí' and that the Council are 'bringing the matter to their attention'.

"We will also look at the prospects for intervention under litter legislation," he said.
