Young athletes get new gear
When the Kilcullen cohort marches at the opening of the Community Games Athletics County Finals this evening, they'll be resplendent in new black-and-white uniforms, courtesy of Kilcullen Credit Union.
They will also be marching behind a new banner sponsored and produced by Pat Gleeson's Print & Graphics business.
The 40 uniforms were presented to the young athletes last night by CU chairman Jim Barker, who said it was an investment in making the youngsters feel proud of being from Kilcullen when competing outside the town. "Up to now, when they were competing away, they had no identity," he said.

The Credit Union has traditionally been the main sponsor of the Community Games in Kilcullen, and the provision of the uniforms represents an outlay of some €2,500.
About 150 youngsters in all have taken part in the local Community Games effort this year, in Art, Swimming, Table Tennis, Athletics, and Soccer. A number have already won medals in Swimming, Table Tennis, and Gymnastics at the County Final events.
The Kilcullen competitions are organised by a committee led by Margaret Kissane.
