Anglers to hold emergency meeting

Kilcullen Trout and Salmon Anglers Association is organising an Emergency Meeting for Saturday June 18, to discuss the lack of policing for licences, and the future of the club.

This follows a 'poor turnout' at the last AGM. The meeting will be held at 6pm in McTernan's.

"It is in every member's interest to turn up, and the association strongly urges all to attend," says club member Charlie Browne.

Water bailiffs who have been appointed by the courts are not currently patrolling the river banks in the area, according to the club, which says the situation is a 'free-for-all'.

With the club's costs for restocking and insurance running to €1,200 a year at the moment, and the only income source being licences, the club 'cannot continue to survive' unless the members get involved.

"We'd like anyone who has recently come to live in Kilcullen and is interested in joining to come to the meeting," Charlie says.
