Bridge footpaths 'a jigsaw'

The state of the footpaths on the bridge was raised at the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, and in the discussion they were described as a 'jig saw puzzle'.

John Quinn, who raised the matter, said the footpaths had been damaged by trucks during the construction work on the Credit Union building, and he wondered if the contractor should have been required to make them good when the work was finished.

Kieran Forde said it was generally Kildare County Council's responsibility to make sure that contractors made good any damage in such cases.

"But going on experience in other developments, I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting," he said.

The meeting heard some concerns expressed that the current state of the paths could be dangerous, especially to older people.
