Brannoxtown NS divestment negotiations have begun
Negotiations have commenced between the Department of Education and the Dublin Archdiocese concerning the divestment of Brannoxtown NS, writes Brian Byrne.
According to the Special Manager appointed last year to the school, the resolution of a delay in the signing of a lease involving another school in the Archdiocese has facilitated the commencement of these negotiations.
"If and when the negotiations are successfully concluded, the Department will choose a Patron to facilitate the potential reopening of the school," Gerry O'Donoghue says.
At a recent public meeting, where three potential Patrons made presentations, local people chose the Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board as their preferred Patron to replace the Archdiocese.
The Department is not bound by this decision.
