More work on Lower Main Street

The improvements on Lower Main Street are continuing on an almost daily basis, writes Noel Clare.

Volunteers were out this morning painting the 'green' cottage on hillside and turning it a lovely shade of pink. The cottage is a key feature as one comes down the hill into the town and it had become derelict in recent years. A group of CPC students painted the racing scenes to cover the smashed windows a couple of years ago.

Plans are also afoot to carry out improvements to the empty two storey house down from the cottage. Volunteers are badly needed to help keep up the work in this and other areas around the town. Contact KCA by email at info@kilcullencommunityaction.ie or by phoning 0876497619.

Meanwhile on the opposite side of the street fantastic work has been done cleaning up what had essentially become a derelict site. This morning, scaffolding was being erected to bring about further improvements to the house itself at Liffeyside. Well done especially to Sam Dowling and to Jim Kelly of Castlemartin Stud who have been behind much of the work in this area.
