Nichola Kennedy Optometrist will host a coffee morning next week in aid of Sightsavers, writes Brian Byrne.

The event will be on Friday 22 June, from 11am.

All are welcome, and everybody who participates will be in the running for a raffle with a fabulous hamper worth €100.

Sightsavers is an international NGO that works in developing countries to prevent avoidable blindness.

In its 65-year history, Sightsavers has distributed treatment to protect more than 295 million people against river blindness (onchocerciasis), and carried out 6.1 million sight-restoring cataract operations.

The charity has also treated 43 million people with antibiotics to combat the potentially blinding infection trachoma.
