Town logo competition in preparation

Some of the possible themes for Kilcullen's logo.
A competition for a town logo is to be organised by Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne. It will be used to illustrate planned signage throughout Kilcullen.

The recent KCA meeting decided that any individual or group in the community, including the schools, will be able to send in their own ideas.

The imminent 700th anniversary of the first bridge across the Liffey here would suggest that the bridge might be part of the logo, it was noted during a discussion on the subject. But equally the round tower of Old Kilcullen, or Dun Ailinne could be part of the final design.

The meeting heard that a graphic designer could produce the finished logo based on the winning idea or sketch.

A brief for the competition will be prepared by KCA.

Noel Clare told the meeting that an application for Leader funds for the signage has passed initial consideration, and a business case would be made for the next stage.
