Drive-thru Ashes?

Pic courtesy St David, Southfield, MI.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, and traditionally Christians go along to church to have a cross of ash put on their foreheads, to remind them that after death their bodies return to the earth, writes Brian Byrne.

In these busy times, it's not always convenient for many to spend time at the relevant Ash Wednesday Mass to receive the ashes, so in the US the ashes are sometimes brought to the people ... in their cars.

A number of churches offer 'Drive-thru Ashes', like St David's Episcopalian Church in Southfield, Michigan (above).

It's not just the US ... last year in St Patrick's Church in Glenamaddy, Galway, parishioners were able to avail of a similar service.
