Business owners asked to help litter effort

Litter at the bus stop: wouldn't it be easier if there was a bin to put it in?
Business operators in Kilcullen are to be encouraged to keep the areas outside their premises clear of litter on a daily basis, writes Brian Byrne.

The Tidy Towns group within Kilcullen Community Action will discuss the matter with the business owners, as part of a programme to improve the town's rankings in the national Tidy Towns competition.

Meanwhile, the regular litter picking programme by Tidy Towns volunteers will be changed for 2018 to try and incorporate a recycling element.

At a recent meeting of KCA, it was decided that this year the litter patrols will each involve two people, one to collect disposable rubbish, the other bagging discarded items which can be recycled.
