Boxing Club resuming training in September

Kilcullen Boxing Club will restart training from Thursday 14 September, writes David O'Brien.

Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays will be only for boxers aged 9 years and onwards, times for 9/10 year olds 7.30pm-8.30pm, all the rest 7.30pm-8.45/9pm, depending on the sparring sessions.

For all newcomers and current boxers interested, the annual fee of €20 per year covers insurance for the boxer, and there are subs of €2 per night. Any boxer aged 11 years of age in 2017, will be eligible for competition this season.

Boxing is a discipline and a contact sport, and gum shields, hand wraps and a skipping rope are required. We provide gloves and headgear, although I've noticed that the young lads prefer their own boxing gloves and we can advise as to proper equipment.

Parents are reminded that sparring is essential and compulsory, and we operate a drop-off and collect system. It's a distraction for the boxer to have parents or guardians in the hall.
