Forging ahead with Expo 2017

Expo 2017 organising committee at work.
With a substantial number of businesses and organisations now registered for the Kilcullen & Ballymore Enterprise Town Expo 2017, arrangements for Saturday's event are almost complete, writes Brian Byrne.

The special guest at the Expo will be Daithi O'Shea, who will conduct a number of interviews with business and community people as well as going around the stands to meet and greet. At the time of writing, the subjects for interview include the rebranding and extension of the Kilcullen in Bloom initiative as well as a highly successful luxury craft goods company located in Kilcullen which has won a major exporting award.

The Kilcullen Gospel Choir will also entertain on the day, and there will be presentations by local Irish dancing groups as well as other individual and musical groups.

As Ballymore is associated with the Kilcullen Expo for this year, we can expect to see a number of businesses exhibiting from there.

There will also be an U/8s exhibition football game between Kilcullen GAA and Ballymore GAA. Also on the sports theme, Paul Treacy has organised a demonstration game of U/13s from Newbridge Rugby Club.

Prizes will be presented to school mini-businesses under the Bank of Ireland sponsored Biz World primary schools initiative.

The Expo, which is part of the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town programme will be open to the public between 11am-4pm, in the Assembly Hall at Scoil Bhride.

We'll keep you updated on the Diary as more on the event is finalised through the week.
