Martin wins influential party position

Kildare South TD Martin Heydon is the new chairman of the Fine Gael parliamentary party, writes Brian Byrne.

He won a vote this evening among his parliamentary party colleagues.

"This is a prestigious and influential position which I am very proud to hold," he told the Diary this evening.

Deputy Heydon is in his second term as a deputy for Kildare South.
