Relay for Life team rocking into the weekend

The Kilcullen team for this weekend's Relay for Life cancer support fundraising event will be going in to the event with more money already raised than they did last year, writes Brian Byrne.

Relay for Life Kildare kicks off this Saturday at The Curragh Racecourse from 3pm and will last for 24 hours, with teams from all over the county mounting a wide range of information, entertainment and novelty fundraising initiatives.

"Between our recent coffee morning and the selling of the bags for the Candle of Hope ceremony we raised €1,120," says Sabina Reddy of the Kilcullen team. "Putting that with the money from the Christmas Jumper Night and Pat Goulding's Movember sponsorship, our total going into The Relay For Life weekend is €1,945."

The keynote at the event will be the Relay start headed by the survivors. The Candle of Hope Ceremony will be held at nightfall on Saturday. There will also be live music, games, barbecues, and lots more.

"The weekend will be jam packed entertainment so come along and join in the fun and the Relay at some stage over the weekend," Sabina says. "Visit us at the Kilcullen stand where we will be running a raffle, games, book sale and more."
