A score for the families

Kildare County Council is to adjust the gate onto the old Athy Road at Thompson's Cross so that buggies and prams can get through the exit, thus allowing a safer and quieter walk part of the way towards town for families, writes Brian Byrne.

This follows representations by Cllr Fintan Brett in the last week.

In 2013 the issue was raised by the Strain family, as reported in the Diary. It came before a Council meeting but in September of that year the engineers turned down the idea.

The Diary at the time suggested the rationale needed a rethink. Following Cllr Brett's intervention this week, it seems that they have done so.
