Novel award for Hazel

Our local author Hazel Gaynor's first novel has won the Romatic Novelists' Association Historical Romantic Novel Award, writes Brian Byrne.

The award for 'The Girl Who Came Home' was presented to Hazel last night at a glitzy event in London, by romantic novel icon Barbara Taylor Bradford.

"To say I was shocked would be an understatement," Hazel said today. "I blubbed a bit, babbled a bit and drank pink bubbles ... and this morning I couldn't be happier."

'The Girl' was a best seller in the US, and her second novel 'A Memory of Violets' was published there last month.
