Major accident at Thompson's Cross

Emergency services dealt with a major accident this morning involving two trucks and a passenger car at Thompson's Cross, writes Brian Byrne.

Four units of Kildare Fire Brigade as well as an ambulance have been attending the incident, which has seriously impeded traffic through the area.

Very fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.

The cross has been the scene of many accidents since the road was realigned as part of the works for the M9.

Local people have campaigned for changes to the junction for several years, but only minor signage and speed limit changes have been made.
