KBC tournament success

Kilcullen's Badminton Club had more success this week when they competed in the St Patrick's Day Tournament which was held in Baldoyle this year, writes Enda O'Neill, Club PRO. As is becoming the norm, the Kilcullen players dominated in their different divisions.

Tournaments like these are run at certain times of the year and can really give a good indication to where clubs are at as they are open draws, so instead of meeting players from teams that we would normally compete with in the Dublin District League and South West League, you get to play against players from all over the country.

So who won what, I hear you ask?! The Division 2 Mix champions are Lynsey and Gareth, Division 2 Mens Champions are Dave Mc C and Murt, Sarah Walshe and Siobhan Willis won the Division 6 Ladies, Sarah also had success in the Division 6 Mix where she won with a blind date!!! In the Division 8 Ladies Emer and Orla took the silverware with a great win. Well done to all.

In the DDL Helens Division 5 Ladies had mixed fortune with one loose and one draw, ESB managed to beat the ladies 3-1 in an away match (where they treathened to turn the lights off if KBC beat them!) while Helen and the gang managed their draw against An Caislain Nua.

Murt's Division 3 Men have kept their unbeaten record in tact beating Aer Lingus 3-1 and Pslc 4-0 with some super play from their residant sub Vincent Coller. Olivier's lads were narrowly beaten 3-1 by Raheney in their Division 8 clash but as Olivier says “we are only building for next season!”

Finallly Caroline's Grade 3 Mix team started their South West League Cup campaign on Wednesday March 11 with an impressive 5-1 win over Baltinglass and are now through to the semi finals. Great result and play from Caroline and the team and good luck to the team in the semis.
