Local writer 'weaves magic with words'

There was a happy gathering last evening for the Kilcullen launch of Annmarie Miles's debut collection of short stories, 'The Long & The Short of it', writes Brian Byrne.

The book was introduced by Kildare author Martin Malone, who said Annmarie had achieved every writer's wish, to 'weave magic with words'.

For herself, Annmarie said that while the work of writing is in itself a solitary one, the journey to becoming a writer was not, as she had enjoyed the support and encouragement of so many people.

The event in Kilcullen Community Library was also the December gathering of the Kilcullen Writing Group, and a number of pieces on the themes of Christmas or the writing process were read by Group members.

The full story of how Annmarie, a native of Tallaght in Dublin but living in Kilcullen for a number of years, came to be a writer can be read in next Tuesday's 'Kildare Nationalist'.
