Town cleaned up
Kilcullen is a whole load tidier this morning thanks to the work of a group of volunteers who turned out for the first 2005 Litter Patrol.
The participants included many families, and there was also a contingent from the Bridge Community.
"It was a great turnout, and thanks to everybody for making such a difference," chairman of Kilcullen Community Action Kieran Forde said. "One good crack at the beginning of the summer breaks the back of it and we hope that you'll keep up the effort during the rest of the year."
He also asked that people keep their own local areas tidy, which would help rduce the requirement for larger cleanups.
Refreshements were given to the participants afterwards, and a draw was held. Winners included, Mary Kiely, Siobhan Tutty Bardon, Martin Carpenter, Orla O'Neill, Yvonne McInerney and Eileen Doyle.
Des O'Brien provided weedkiller free of charge, and Ecokem in the Link Business Park donated gloves, bags, and hand cleaner.
